RCates: The idea of August tryouts make sense theoretically, but with the league season starting on September 1, waiting until August to have tryouts is impractical. Try getting all the following done in four weeks:
- having tryouts for 8 age groups usually over a 1-2 week period,
- picking the players,
- waiting for their answers and calling alternates if necessary,
- organizing the team,
- getting all the required registration information and uniform sizes from the players,
- ordering uniforms and having them delivered and screen printed,
- submitting the registration info and waiting for rosters and player cards to come back.
- have enough training sessions to prepare the team to play as a team on opening day (especially if it is a new team or a team with a lot of new players)
It just won't get done in that amount of time. The uniforms alone typically take over a month.
