I don't think holding tryouts after regionals or nationals is a good solution, although a number of teams will be going to region III and 1 or 2 might go to nationals. The delay in a team beginning training, or a club offering summer training programs, due to late tryouts would not benefit SC. We need all the player and team development time we can get before playing in the RIII premier league and the U15+ challenge cup.

Most of the players in the state would benefit from all clubs waiting to hold tryouts until after the May rain-date. This would allow enough time to register players and begin summer team and club training programs.

I think clubs are unwilling to unilaterally delay their tryouts for fear of players trying out early for other clubs and then not coming to tryouts.

If SCYSA set a mandatory start date, then no clubs would have this fear and be at a disadvantage if they held tryouts later after clup play is totally completed.
