Guru is a Hanna guy and is still a little sore from the playoff game. From what I've heard, that match was one of the best in AAAA for 2008 despite the physicality (or because of!). That is a rivalry that is shaping up to be one of the upstate's best.

Both of the games with Hanna were very intense and down to the wire. But I believe the games against Byrnes, Dorman and Lexington were higher in physicality.

Just my opinion......

In our second round playoff match with Mauldin, I thought it was a very physical, but fair match. I was very impressed with how Mauldin played. Despite being on the road and fielding a lot of young players, they wore us down. We were suffering cramps in the late stages of the match and OT. They are in a tough region with Brynes, Dorman and Spartanburg. But, I believe this only helps them when playoff time rolls around.

Mauldin overrated???????????? I was at the Hanna game last year and that was one of the most exciting games I've seen. The atmosphere was the way, I think, soccer should be. I have since viewed the whole game again from a video that was taken and it was physical, but I only saw one bad foul. The rest of the foul's, in my opinion, were pretty much physical 50/50 play. As far as Mauldin being overrated, I would thnk twice. Loosing no starters, picking back up a couple of premier players that were injured last year, along with adding another premier player that has moved in the area. It is their's to lose. Maybe I just jinxed them. ha ha ha. Really they are going to be good. Unbeatable no.

I agree with your assessment of Mauldin’s overtime victory over Lexington. We played three overtime region games last year, losing in PK’s twice to Dorman and winning one at Byrnes. These types of games prepare the team mentally and physically for the playoffs. It also shows the strength of the region. It will take a lot of hard work and luck for Mauldin to make it back to the finals again.

That was an awesome game against Hanna. Maybe you should show that video to Guru and he/she would have a different opinion of Mauldin and the game. Hopefully we get play Hanna again this year, with the same results of course.
