Any thoughts on how the economy will play a role in club ball this year? Will clubs charge more if numbers are down? Will they charge less to keep numbers up? Most think that club ball is for the rich and wealthy but I see alot of families that sacrifice to play club ball..so I see this being a tough year for club ball..Maybe the travel will be less due to the economy..Let's hear your opinions
Closer tournaments, more doubleheaders, shorter seasons but more concentrated, same uniforms versus new, smaller numbers especially in the high school and middle school rec programs.
I would suspect you will see higher numbers in Rec leagues as opposed to travel ($$$) soccer. Parents will have to look at whether or not their dollars are actually getting a proportionate return, ROI (return on investment). I would suspect that many will take a hard look at the ROI and see REC as just as good, if not better option for their money.
I think travel soccer will continue to be the "rich" kids game.
I also suspect clubs will try to find ways to reduce expenses if membership starts dropping off; wouldn't surprise me if DOC salaries become an issue if the economy significantly affects the clubs' intake.
Yeah,I agree..some of the soccer professionals are going to have to coach because they love the game alittle more and expect alittle less this year..I think there will still be a drop in numbers..This downturn has hit everyone somehow..even if it's just someone that you know that has taken a pay cut or a week off here and there unpaid or has lost their jobs all together..
