I believe it was during the Holland/Italy Euro 08 match.
Van Nistelrooy scored on a goal after an Italian defender ran/was pushed off the back line. The debate was if the Italian going off the field "without permission" had placed the shooter offside.

I was discussing this recently and I can't remember if I have all my facts right. Someone make me smart.

The italian defender was got hurt (from the cross or corner cant remember which one it was) and layed down because he was hurt on the endline, van nistelrooy was played in and looked to be offside but the hurt italian defender held him on... kind of a hard contraversial call to make by the ref...

Thank you. I just couln't remember the facts very well. Maybe since it was such an odd thing for an Italian player to fall down with an end of the world/one minute injury.
