I figured someone would point that out. 
I actually didn't think about it until I had already posted it. I believe both players play club for LCSC and I haven't been affiliated with Lexington club soccer in 7 years and never with Lexington or Gilbert High Schools. I went over to the dark side (Irmo) two years ago.
I, too, have been impressed with Deidre seeing her play with LHS against Irmo the past 2 seasons. But she had always played in a stopper/defensive mid role. Saturday she played as a sweeper and was equally impressive.
I had never seen Jacalyn Bundrick play before Saturday. She really lived up to all the accolades I had heard.

I thought it was a great day and a special evening before! During the match I was impressed by the girls whose names I had heard on this forum, as well as by several girls I had not heard mentioned before. I also thought it was impressive how both teams came together when most had not played together before. Kudos to the coaches for that. My daughter was worried about not playing with the defensive line in front of her but said she made some new friends and was happy by how well the South defense played as a team after only one practice. She was worried that her legs were like rubber since she has been doing preconditioning but said the midfield made up for her mistakes and the defense kept pressure off of her and that she started feeling comfortable early in the match. She would like to play with them again. I was worried because the North girls had some great talent on the field, especially on the offense, but only got the one breakaway clean shot. I was also excited that our South defense and mid kept popping well placed balls to our offense which put some real stress on the very good North keepers.
I am saddened by the two injuries. I worried when I saw the one girl struck in the face with enough force to pop her head back. That was a hard hit and I wish her all the best. For the player who went down with the possible ACL I really worried when I saw her fall because I had seen the same type of fall three times this past season with our club team. It just had that look about it that screamed ACL and I wish her a speedy recovery.
To all involved, I thank you for allowing our family to experience and participate in this wonderful event.

GREAT player and even more important GREAT kid.
She will be attending the USNA and we wish her the best.

Kids play sports because they find it fun. Eliminate the fun and soon you eliminate the kid.

How can these players justify missing this opportunity to be recognized? Are any fines involved with skipping out on these all-star events? What is really poor is that these folks took up spots that I am sure others would have been readily available to play in these prestigious matches.

From the CLASH OF THE CAROLINAS & NORTH-SOUTH SOCCER CLASSIC 2009 SELECTION GUIDELINES
"Each school must submit a $100 performance bond for each player or coach selected to participate in the North-South Soccer Classic or the Clash of the Carolinas all-star games. This check (made payable to SCHSSCA) will be destroyed after the weekend of that particular all-star event, but is utilized as a means of ensuring that players selected and then commit to the All-star game attend the games. Failure of a player to show up for the selected all-star game will result in the forfeiture of the performance bond and will be deposited in the respective all-star game account."

Unfortunately, the SCACA board did not uphold our request of the $100 performance bond, thus no real penalty for those programs whose players did not show. This is something that we have to examine very closely and hopefully SCACA will offer support as well for measures to minimize this type of action.
