Just curious but was Memorial good or bad for the States championship? What would the game of been like at Stone stadium?

The atmosphere of Stone is exciting, but as a substitute I thought Memorial was suffice. No problems on our end.

It was great. It's old, but recently remodeled, so it has a lot of character. The field looked very nice. Plenty of parking nearby for tailgating and I like the fact that each team has their own side to sit with their fans behind them. Plus, it's two minutes from my house :-).

im agreeing with Cola Fan here i live just over from Rosewood in Shandon, so I like Memorial even though Stone is just fine for me

im glad all the Irmo players and fans were bashing the field before the game cuz I should be bashing their play on the field but that neither here nor there

the atmosphere was better than it has been in awhile and makes it feel more like a lower league professional soccer game, now lets just get an all-standing section behind the goals!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking from an administrative perspective, it is much easier hosting the SCHSL State Championship weekend at Memorial Stadium than Stone Stadium for many reasons.

The canteen is much more accessible and even allows the volunteer workers to catch some of the action on the field. The canteen has ample refrigerators and a productive ice machine (no hauling ice). It is easy to store overnight rather than having to break down the canteen set up we have at Stone and move in to a storage area and have to do it all over again on Saturday.

The fans split on both sides does have its' obvious advantages as well!

The locker rooms are bigger than those at Stone and easier to monitor for security sake.

I know that Stone provides an awesome atmosphere, but as far as convenience and manageability, Memorial more than suffices.

Kevin do you think they will look to keep it at Stone?

The only advantage I know of at Stone is if you get there real early, you can sit right in front of the press box and get some shade. That's it; I'm also in the 'just a few minutes' to Memorial as well as Stone.

USC does indeed want to retain the SCHSL State Championships, so my gut says the SCHSL will return to Stone next year.

Can they expand Stone stadium by then? Just hoping that the atmosphere can continue for soccer. Not sure we will ever have two similar ranked teams playing again.

What are the seating capacities at each. Saturday night was cramped on the Irmo side. Northwestern had some empty seats at the ends. The field at Stone is MUCH nicer and will be even better next year with the new drainage and irrigation.

If you're two minutes from Memorial, how far from Stone...three minutes?
