So with the new rankings out I'm sure there is murmur around all the high schools of why is so and so ranked so high, why isn't someone else ranked, etc.

The one thing about the rankings is most coaches won't know what schools lost the most amount of players from the previous years team.

Woodruff is ranked #9 for 2A, and I sure hope we don't disappoint but the boys lost a lot. With only 4 starters from last years team returning it will be completly different. They have a total of 6 players from last years team on this years team, and only 2 JV boys being moved up. I'm anxious to see how the new players can fit into the mix.

So what other schools have completly different teams then last year?

Looks to me like last year final rankings with 2010 Preseason added at the top

I wonder if any consideration was given to player change over?

Don't believe much thought was given into the rankings they dont really matter at this point anyways. Once the pre-season tournaments are over then we will see where most of the teams should belong in my opinion.

very true, especially in 4A Lake Murray Challenge will put the top programs in their deserved spots with around 5 teams from the top 15 including, both irmo and northwestern.

The SCHSSCA Preseason Rankings are taken seriously and this year we had more input from prep coaches than ever before - maybe that is why they resemble the 2009 Final Rankings moreso than other seasons. Is that wrong? I don't think so. It is hard for a coach to project his/her own team much less others in the region, area, or around the state.

However, with the influence of the Massey Ratings, the general knowledge of top players and programs from around the Palmetto State, etc., then the "preseason" tallies usually don't differ too much from the "final" rankings. We'll see once again this spring.

Good luck!

Thank you I think the boys will pull together a good season. Not sure how the beginning will go, but playing a team like Southside Christian for the first game when you have so many new players could be a mistake.

I think the only way to really improve the pre-season predicitions would be for each coach to put onto a list how many starters and overall players he has returning.

One question I have is Kyle can you post up all of the pre-season rankings from this year so we can look back at the end of the season, and see how teams compare. I'm not sure if there is a way to look at previous weeks rankings, and if there is can someone tell me how to do that?

I believe that they may shape up to be a pretty tight team. The majority of the starters should be upperclassmen from what I have heard with the JV push players filling in gaps as necessary. The exposure is good for them regardless of play time....

We will see soon enough.

I look forward to the upcoming season regardless of the outcome.
