Can someone clarify the rule change taking effect in 2012 concerning home uniforms? As I read it: any white jersey that has added color or "pipping" would be deemed against the rules? Does this mean that a majority of schools in the state will be purchasing four new home uniforms (jv girls and boys as well as varsity girls and boys)????

Can't wait to see the SCHSL try to enforce that one. The refs should just laugh at it and not worry about it. The only time it may matter will be at the state finals when somebody from the SCHSL may actually attend a game.

Well if you do "break the rule" what will be the punishment? Forfeits, fines, etc?

silly timing, too with budgets about as low as they can go. what to do if some schools purchased home kits last year that don't meet specs?

I guess they'll check the piping as they ask for the sticker on the shinguards at the same time. What a joke

And....Make sure the tights underneath conform to the uniform..It does not matter how they play..It just matters that they look good doing it.

Hello.....high school official here. Let's be nice. I'm a soccer referee.......not the fashion police.
Kids play sports because they find it fun. Eliminate the fun and soon you eliminate the kid.

At the rules meeting the SCHSL official said they would work with the teams that did not have a completely white uniform so long as when the uniforms were replaced that would conform to the new ruling. They do not expect the schools to run out and buy new uniforms just to conform to the new rule. Hope that helps.

I was referring to the rules...not the referees. You guys don;t make the rules...you just enforce them

We were just talking about this a few days ago. When I coached HS in the late 90's, early 2000's, the parents were so concerned with having matching warmups and bags and that are pregame warmup looked "professional". When I played hs in the 80's, the only matching thing we had was our jersey's. We wore different shorts, socks, everyone had their club bag and we played in the winter so a lot of us wore ski jackets to stay warm (remember, they were the "big" thing back then). And as far as preparation for the game, as individuals, we did what we needed to get ready to play. So you know, in 3 years, we lost 4 games, went to 3 UpperState finals and 2 State Championships, winning 1.
It's about how you play, not how you look. Would love to get back to that.
