A girl that transfered from LR to Dreher earlier this year was shot and killed on Tuesday. Apparently many of the LR players were close to her.

Yea they had 7 players show up after we had completed our warm-up so obviously we had to call it a forfeit. Not showing up for an away game and not calling to notify anyone is just piss poor. I will be making an argument at region meetings that LR shouldn't be in the region for soccer or whoever I need to talk to. I've called out there left a message for the AD to call me back about the forfeit and have had no returned phone call. The field there had 10-15 yard gaps where there were no lines, and where there were lines they are very very poooor big zig-zags. I don't think that's professional at all.

So much for thoughts and prayers, I suppose. I'll add mine nonetheless.

I apologize if I seemed rude, we all at DHS had the pleasure of knowing Santerrica and I was blessed enough to have her in some of my classes I substituted for. The entire DHS soccer family sends our thoughts and prayers to her family. Tuesday was a very sad day when we received news of her death. We will have a moment of silence for her tonight at Memorial Stadium in her honor before kick-off.

I also would like to extend my condolences to the LR/Dreher folks affected by the tragic death of Santerrica. I read the article in the paper and know how tough that is for those involved.

I did follow up with Coach Rachel Fobare via email and she let me know that the boys will indeed forfeit their Tuesday match, but that the girls team will play.

My release to those that need to know was as follows:

The Brookland-Cayce boys 7:30 pm match at Lower Richland on Tuesday, April 26 has been canceled due to a forfeit by LR for not having enough players to continue their season.

The girls match will still proceed at 5:30 pm as scheduled.
