Chapin High School is pleased to announce that Kellie Herndon will be taking over the boys soccer program. Herndon replaces Dick Hiller who left the program at season's end after leading the Eagles for the past 12 years.
During that span Coach Hiller helped establish the Chapin program as one of the top boys programs in the state. The Eagles captured a pair of Class 2A State Championships in 2002 and 2003. Chapin captured two other Class 2A Upper State titles in 2000 and 2001. Hiller's 2008 Eagles squad won the Class 3A Lower State Championship and totaled 10 region championships from 2000-2011. He graduated from Irmo High School in 1992 and played collegiately at Presbyterian College.
Coach Herndon spent the past two seasons as the head varsity girls coach at his alma mater, Irmo High School. In 2011 he led them to the Region 4 Championship with an impressive 17-4-1 mark and finished ranked #6 in South Carolina. Coach Herndon is also a staff coach for South Carolina United FC. He currently holds a USSF "D" license and a National Diploma from the NSCAA. A 2000 graduate of IHS, Herndon served as team captain his senior year and earned All-State honors while leading the Yellow Jackets to the Class 4A State Championship.
