USA 1:2 Uzbekistan on Wednesday. I watched the game tonight on replay and was totally unimpressed with the U17s and Summerville's Joseph Amon. Amon went off at halftime with the US down 1-nil. The U17s lacked any forward determination and looked to possess rather than attack.
I find it hard to imagine that a country of 27 million and a per capita income of just $3,015 can match the resources of the USA (309 million / $47,123). Something is wrong with player identification, team training, and player development in general.

I didn't see the game.....but I did watch the Czech game and am shocked at the loss and more....at your description of the game.
Against Czech.....I loved how they played and attacked. Why would we come out and play like that agaisnt Uzebekistan in a game they should have won comfortably? Logically, why would they have gone conservative?

Big Daddy - Interesting you say that about the Czech game. I did not see that match, but the announcer kept referring to the fact that the U.S. was not playing anywhere near or like they did against the Czech Republic. He made this comment at least a half a dozen times. Sounds like the U.S. may have been a bit overconfident after that victory. I guess we'll see which team will show up against New Zealand on Saturday?

I didn't see the first half, so I missed Joe Amon's playing time since he received a caution. However, I was impressed with one individual for the U.S., and that was goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh (5-11, 160). He was called on a lot and proved up to most challenges. However, the style of play by the U.S., left a lot to be desired and I felt like U17 Coach Wilmer Cabrera was at a loss for making anything happen after his team knotted the match at 1-1. The penalty kick converted by Uzbekistan was deserved based on the "selling" by the Uzbek player, but the lack of "punch" from the U.S. makes me wonder what the Residency Program is doing in Bradenton, Fla.

My kid is a u17.....and I can whine with the best of them about how do these kids get on the national team, yadda yadda yadda.
The Czech game was really fun to watch. Brilliant is too strong a word....but they played great and played a good style. The men's team.....even when they play well they suck as far as I'm concerned. The best attacking player I've seen in terms of beating people one v one and creating dangerous situations is the dadgummed left back. Our forwards and middies appear incapable of doing that.
Its what I loved about the 17's the other day.....there were a handful of kids doing it. And their central midfield play was outstanding.
Then we lose to Uzebkastan? Isn't that where Borat is from?

Also......I thought Joe played very well at right back against Czech.
Sounds like we picked a bad day to have a bad day
