Uniforms are actually one of the larger variables in cost; I've seen clubs requiring kits ranging from under $60 up to the $200-300 range. That can make a pretty big difference in total cost for a season, even when the advertised club fees are very similar. I guess it just reflects a difference in philosophy as to whether it's more important to keep up a certain image, or to make things as affordable as possible for the players and parents.

I agree. Just as some clubs include ref fees, league fees, etc in the club fees while others don't. Further, in the case of CESA, their uniform cost is about $200, but the uniforms are kept for three years, so that makes it about $70 a year. When looking at costs, just realize you may think that one club appears much less but find that some of what is included up front by a club isn't included by another. Just do your homework.

Cainhoy Athletic

$120 per season ($240 per year)
(not including our premier level at $250 per season)

high level breakdown where this goes
$30 field rents
$40 training
$10 property taxes, admin
$10 field/coaches equipment (goals, flags, coaches swag, etc.)
REMAINING FUNDS: allocated to capital building and landscaping costs

ALL PLAYERS
$50 annual registration covers SCYS fees, insurance, rostering fees, and website costs.

UNIFORM
$40 - $90 depending on service/team/needs and on two year rotation (entering 2nd now with our gold & navy selections)

COMPETITION COSTS (LEAGUE,TEAM BOND, REF FEES)
Covered at team level - approx $25 per player but could get higher depending on age level and nature of competition (Coastal vs. State Leagues, etc.)
Tournaments again at discretion of team/coaches and funded likewise. Reasonable to budget $100 per season (most tournies way too costly in my opinion)

Charleston United, fall season:

Club dues $400 --includes coaching fees, administrative fees, registration with SCYSA (including team registration fees, club registration fees, and team bonds), referee fees, and all other non-uniform or travel costs for the regular season.

Uniforms--$58 for Nike Tiempo kit, includes home and away jerseys, shorts, home and away socks.

Tournaments: Tournament team entry fees are split among the players on the roster; typically around $30 per player per tournament. We generally go to tournaments in Mt. Pleasant and James Island, plus State Cup. We also fundraise to offset tournament costs; all money raised comes directly off the players' cost.

That covers it except for transportation to and from, plus a weekend in Greenville for State Cup.

I've got good news and bad news...

www.lexingtoncountysoccerclub.org is a good option in Central SC. Challenge & Classic teams are available. It is a small club but a great community. Fees are more reasonable that the large clubs. Midlands area. Fees don't include uniform or tournament expenses.
