Great match yesterday with J.L Mann at Wando for a pre-season scrimmage. Ended in a 0-0 draw after 80 minutes of regulation and 10 minutes of overtime. Both teams are deeply talented and played very well. It was fun to watch these young ladies compete against each other. As for the match details, lots of one and two touch passing, and movement off the ball. It was an extremely even match throughout, with each team showing flashes of control here and there. Possession was about 50/50 in my opinion. Each team had a couple corners and a couple offsides. Shots on goal were pretty even with both back lines doing an outstanding job of not allowing any real chances from inside the box. The defenders played very well in limiting good chances. The couple of good scoring opportunities each team had came on shots from distance; but the keepers from both sides played with lots of confidence and made the big diving saves they needed to make. Overall, a very even match in all aspects.
The only thing I did not care for was the tendency for Wando to go to ground easily. There really is no room in the game for diving, flopping, simulation, or whatever else you want to call it. They are a better team than that and simply do not need to go there.
Good luck to both teams on having a great regular season and hopefully we will get to see the two teams play again at the end of season.
