Just curious as to the criteria used to determine the Top #5 team in regards to State Soccer Playoffs (specifically in the class AAAA playoffs brackets). Thanks in advance.

In class 4A, regions I, II, and III can have one 5th place team make the playoffs. This is based on region IV having less teams.

In 2013, we finished 5th. We had to submit a form listing our schedule and results. From there it went to the ADs to decide our fate. I believe we were chosen based on record (possibly strength of schedule). Our record was quite better than the other two #5s.

This is the last year (I believe)
to the new classifications.

With just a couple games left for most teams, there could be a log jam of about 5 teams vying for that coveted Top #5 spot. All with very similar records. Has to be a difficult decision when you have that many potentially deserving teams.

I agree. I doubt our #5 will have a good enough record. Everyone seems to have at least 2 more region games. My opinion is that there will not be a #5 team strong enough to beat your team. It may just be Mauldin's year.
