Pretty even for the first 20, Pinewood took control and put one in. Ben Lippen #12 red card with under 2:00 for pulling a man down on a break away. 1-0 at the end of the first.

Second half - all Ben Lippen. They flat out took it to Pinewood. Pinewood was flat, sitting back on their heels for the entire half (they did generate a few good counters, but no serious possession).

Any word on the HEATHWOOD-CARDINAL NEWMAN game! Come on the suspense is killing me!

Heathwood 4 CN 4. Heathwood wins 4-2 in pks. Quite simply one of the best soccer games I ever witnessed. HH was leading 3-1 with under 10 to go, CN aplied the pressure and scored 2 goals within about 3 minutes of each other to tie. CN scores at end of 2nd 10 minute Ot period.Last gasp effort by HH nets equalizer with little time left. No score in 5 minute golden goal periods. In pks HH keeper made 1 stop and one hit post. All HH shots were good. This was a physicaly taxing match as both teams had several players go off with injuries or cramps.

Holy Crap!!! I should have gone to that game!!

My hat is off to Coach Winston Helms at Pinewood. Condsidering the talent that graduated from last year's squad, not too many people, including me, were giving Pinewood much of a chance this year.

Coach has done an outstanding job getting this very young squad ready to play. Congratulations on a great season (third straight region title for Pinewood) and good luck on Saturday!!!
