Sounds a lot like the Irmo team after their loss last year to South Aiken in the Championship game! I would say you know what second place feels like!

I'll give you that Cola. fan but the best do fall every once in a while. Love them or hate them they are simply the best. They are the only team that doesn't recognize 2nd place. Plain and simple. You can't argue with that.

I have long since graduated from Irmo (1989). We won state that year, and I still hear comments like the ones posted by Wando Fan '84 and Cola Fan. There's no denying my bias since I played for Irmo way back in the stone ages when the '89 team was the first team to win 3 in a row. But I must question whether those 2 posters can admit their bias. The post was designed to inform the IHS Alums about the yearly game. It was not an invitation to post irrelevant, snide remarks.

I do not doubt that Cola Fan and Wando may have some validity to their viewpoints. I just question whether their posts were appropriate given the thread topic. IMHO, the answer is no, but these types of "jabs" having been made ever since 1987 when Irmo really began to win.

I added those comments because everyone else knew where I was coming from, whereas the Irmo players are in denial of the facts. But when all is said and done, Irmo won more, many more than they lost and will always continue to do so.

I'm not sure I saw any facts in your posts. I did see your opinions, however, which are markedly different. I have my own opinions of some of the teams we played while I was at school, but I won't stoop to denigrate them.

It won't do any good to attempt to reason with some of these people. They are so set to believe certain sterotypes that you can't change their mind. Let them believe what they want.

Point taken. Most of the time those comments are water off a duck's back, but sometimes they're just so ridiculous that a response is warranted, and, besides, it makes for good reading.

That it does, and I get on here and read for amusement some days!

I find it amusing when I read post like yours. It's so funny when old alumni tend to still fight for their highschool. Now that is pure amusement any way you look at it.

I would be denigrating those teams, not my opinions, if I were to comment.
