I have a confusing offside question. What is the high school league ruling on this particular case?

3 offenders attack a goal. The sweeper steps up and catches the right forward offside by at least 6 or 7 feet. But, the left forward receives an onside pass from a midfielder and has a fast break towards goal. He/she scores soley on that run. The offside right forward had no part in the play.

This has no basis for being called offside right? Because the pass itself was onside, correct? I saw this called offside a few months ago at a club game. Perhaps the ref was just confsued. or maybe I'm completely wrong. Just clearing this up.

if the ref deems that the right forward was a big enough distraction to the keeper to where the keeper thought the blal might go to him so HE would score, then he can call the offside. i believe. so basically if that forward in the offside position was a threat the ref can call that.

the law has been revisited and the player must be involved in the play to be ruled offside. If the right forward is not involved in the opinion of the referee then the goal stands.

If the play is directed in the area of which a potential player is offside (while the intended player is onside) the ruling will be an offside because the player who is offside may play a vital part in the formation of the attack.

only if the pass is intended for the person who is offsides and the ref has the choice to call it if that player continues to play towards the ball. just yesterday agains mid-carolina i was in an offsides position and a lead on pass was made and i looked over to the sideline ref and he was ready to pull up his flag so i just let it roll and then continued to play after someone else touched it. no call

It's funny how there is someone from swansea trying to tell what is offside and what is not. Anyways, going by your story, the ref made the incorrect call and it should have been a goal.
