I need to know something... Is it illegal to spray stick'em on your gloves for better grip? Or is it illegal because i asked a ref and he said it was ok with him, but i asked my football coach for some because he had some as a joke and he said ti is illegal in football so you might want to ask more than just one ref. Do any off y'all know if it is illegal?

That stickem stuff will absolutely RUIN your gloves. A friend of mine tried it on his gloves and when it dried the whole outside layer flaked off.

if you need to use stick 'em spray to help you catch the ball....you probably shouldn't be playing varsity soccer anyway...

There are two simple ideas to keep your gloves fresh...
#1. Two different pairs of gloves. Make sure you use a less expensive pair of gloves or an old game pair during training.
#2. Proper glove maintenance. After every couple of games (especially muddy games), wash your gloves. There are two methods. First, simply drop your gloves in the washing machine with regular clothes on the regular cycle with regular detergent. DO NOT put them in the dryer. Let them air dry.
Second, you can hand wash your gloves. Simply put your gloves on and use a mild dish detergent while washing them under warm water in the sink. Wash thouroughly.

Be aware-- there is usually an overnight drying time for either method. DO NOT rush drying or you will ruin your gloves. Finally, with gloves, you usually get what you pay for. Cheap gloves will last a long time but do not have the gripping ability of more expensive gloves. A good pair of gloves will last a season or maybe a season and a half. After that, they should be shifted into the training pair.

My keeper from last year used to spit on his gloves a lot to make them sticky. Most of the guys on the defense would spit on them...and apparently it worked. You may want to try that before using that spray stuff.

Back in the day (I love starting out like that) when I was a keeper in High School, we used stickum. On our hands! We didn't have gloves! I don't know if they were around at that time.

Just my two cents.
