PW and BE played last night with two ref's. On a Thursday night there were not enough ref's for a three man crew?
But this is what burns me - one of the ref's is the dad of a BE JV player! This is the ref that tried to call a foul in the box on PW from eighty yards away, but the other ref talked him out of it.
Most high school games are officiated with only two refs on the sidelines. In many cases these officials are too slow to keep up with the play and are not in the right postion to make calls (i.e. off sides). It's farcical that the SCHSL permits this. Football plays with the same number of players on the same size field and has 5 or 6 refs.
Off topic gentlemen - no one said a word about verbally abusing ref's. My point is that I find it hard to believe there weren't three ref's available for a Thursday night game.
This has been stated so many times already but I will re-state it for you. Unless an AD is prepared to pay the extra for 3 officials and specifically requests 3 officials, then SOP is to assign 2.
Even if they requested three, does not mean they will get them. As Bazza stated this subject is old, there is a shortage of ref's. The majority of them put in a lot of hours during the week and weekends in addition to working full time.
Blackville-Hilda is a real sleeper this year. To start off the season, we played without half of our personel. Now that we have everyone back, we have won four games iin a row!!!
Goose Creek played West Ashley last night. I was not there but I was told the best ref's were at that game. I realize there is a shortage of ref's so let's take this time to say THANK YOU to the three ref's from last night. It would really be nice if someone could list the names and let them know how much they are appreciated.
