Any results from Classic cup play? Will SCYSA report results on their site?

in the finals for u16 girls it was an incredibly hard fought game between the CUSC United and CESA 88 girls. very exciting but heartbreaking game to watch. CESA threw their bodies around alot using their size to the advantage. CUSC is a very small and young (but fast) team, but it just seemed like no matter how much they dominated the game they couldnt put it in the back of the net. the poor officiating led to 2 (some may even say three) cheap goals. the one goal that CESA actually earned today was beautiful. lofted just beyond the touch of CUSC keeper Cary Hudnell into the right upper 90. great game full of heart. the winner ended up being CESA (4-0) but it seemed as if they were out played (skill-wise) 98% of the team.

sorry for the typo--last sentence "98% of the team" should "98% of the time" sorry. by the way...congratulations to CESA. good luck at the director's cup.

How does state cup play figure into regional play? Also, what are the requirements for a team to be invited into the different state cup tourneys? Thanks in advance.

I believe that this [U16G classic championship] marks at least the fourth time in four years that coach Gretchen Lentz had a team in the state finals...seems like pretty impressive coaching. Her team had a 10-0 season in PMSL with a combined score of 60-1.

Congratulations to both the CUSC and CESA U16G teams for making it to the classic cup finals.

I really doubt that a team dominates a match 98% of the time, yet loses 4-0. I was there watching one of my players and while I understand the skill factor CESA was against, I think the comments were unwarranted. CESA created some really tactical problems and that is where they capitalized.

Gretchen Lentz is a very good coach and has been over the last several years, but she has failed to win State cup (Challenge Level) all those years and was essentially demoted (unofficially) from the premier level teams.

I don't believe Gretchen was essentially demoted unoffically. In case you don't know her, she recently had a baby and was unable to commit to the travel necessary at the challenge/premier level.

I hope you are right. I have heard differently, but I have been wrong from time to time.
