More and more clubs are posting tryout information, so I decided it best to remind you of the Bridge FA tryouts, which begin on Monday, May 9th at SSC. Additional details can be found at the Bridge FA web page.

There has been a significant amount of discussion on the message board concerning training locations. Currently Bridge FA has secured agreements for training at SSC, JIYSC, and Daniel Island. Actual practice location will not be finalized until after tryouts and team formations. Bridge FA is committed to utilizing the training sites available to best accomodate all players on teams. The individual teams will work closely with the coaching board to finalize practice times and locations. Foremost in consideration will be the location of the majority of the team. While we were hopeful to be able to offer the use of facilities in Mount Pleasant, that is not available this year. We feel that Daniel Island should provide a suitable alternative.

In addition to the training locations, there has been a significant amount of discussion pertaining to which coach with which team. While this has not been finalized, a preliminary listing has been developed and posted on the Bridge FA web page.

Often times organizational direction differs from individual points of view. Many times within an organization there is the free expression of view points. However, after the organizational decision is made, it is up to every member of the organization to support and communicate that decision.

For various reasons both CUSC and MPSC have decided that they could not particpate with the Bridge Futbol Alliance this year, as an alliance club member. We are hopeful that both of these clubs will continue the dialogue with Bridge FA in an effort to grow and strengthen the alliance next year. Both of these organizations understand the current structure of the alliance. Bridge FA is committed to finding the middle ground with these organizations. There really are only a couple of key items that need to be adhered to.

We are excited about the possibility of bringing more clubs into the alliance either one month before the season starts, or next year. To date very few people I have spoken to within either the coaching or administration of the clubs has not agreed both conceptually and philosophically with Bridge FA. Unfortunately, some organizations can't move as rapidly as others.

SCYSA has only one club to work with this year for regional play. With the proper support from parents and players, next year, they will have at least two clubs to work with. We have the talent within the low country to win some of the State Cup titles, all we have to do is put them together. In light of CESA's success, I offer the following, "if you don't like change, you're going to like irrelevance even less." (GEN Eric Shinseki, Chief of Staff, US Army)

As for whether or not Bridge FA will have a short term existence, "Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has." (Margaret Mead)

Due to MPSC delay in listing current coaches and trainers for the 05/06 year, I assume that may of the trainers are making themselves available to the Bridge as well as MPSC. Only time will tell where they will all end up

Duplication of coaching: I don't see a great deal of duplication. With respect to long term, the alliance is a cooperative arrangement, so alliance member clubs will have the benefit of having the coaching board of Bridge FA to work with them.

The U18B coach can't be announced until after team formation.

Bridge FA,
How can you try out for a team if you have no idea who the coach will be??

*GK, just taking a guess here, but Barr is the DOC of JI. Since JI is part of the alliance, Barr is also part of the staff for Bridge. And even if Lundy, Guyan(if he comes back)and Hamil aren't coaching particular teams, having that much experience and soccer knowlege on staff may benefit everyone - players, parents and even other coaches. I know, I know, you want their specific roles with the Bridge, just like you wanted names of coaches for all age groups. Afraid I don't know the answers...I am sure BRIDGE FA does. But sometimes it doesn't hurt to look at the big picture as well as all the details.

Thank you sideliner – great points (and, by the way, you look maaavalous)

CIWS*GK: were you dropped on your head as a child?!?! “STAFF” and “COACH” are NOT the same word, and are not necessarily interchangeable. Why are you having such an IMPOSSIBLE time understanding this and that the BridgeFA does not have EVERY single detail decided? They have a list of Staff and coaches and another preliminary list of coaches paired with teams.

Just for sh**s and giggles, let’s say the Bridge website shows two particular coaches for the U15 Boys. Now, let’s say that only enough players for one team are deemed “challenge” material, SO the Bridge fields only one U15 Boys team. Now, let’s say the Bridge decided that they will move one of these two coaches to the U14 Boys team because now he’s not needed for U15, and the U14 Boys ended up having one more team than they had originally anticipated. Are you going to SUE the BridgeFA because they didn’t do EXACTLY what they said they would on their website? You are asking questions that NObody can answer! Why is this so hard for you?

Sideliner - personally, I don’t think CIWS*GK cares about the big picture – he wants to look at minute details, and when some little thing is not precisely how it was supposed to be, that is his out, his big excuse for everything.

CIWS*GK, you’ve already said you have left one club and are going to leave the one you’re at now. That basically leaves one other club (for real challenge-level competition, I am only counting MP, SSC, and the Bridge). You obviously haven’t been happy with the first two, so either shut up and go to the third (where you will probably be unhappy yet again), or just shut up.

CIWS,

The Bridge FA organization has multiple people with various roles. In this organization is the Director of Soccer, and Coaching Board. It is these soccer professionals that make the decisions with respect to pairing teams, not the administrative staff, (parents). Each staff member listed has unique personal situations, which will be addressed with those individuals.

Some staff members have personal committments which keep them from coaching a team of their own, yet are on the Bridge FA staff as a trainer, for example.

BridgeFA,
I guess I will pose my question in a different manner. Will BridgeFA anounce who will coach the U18 boys before the first tryout?
