CESA-Columbia today announced that Jamie Smith, Associate Head Coach, University of South Carolina Women's Soccer, has agreed to join the club. Coach Smith will focus on training academy-age players.

Andrew Hyslop, Vice President and the Executive Director of Soccer Operations for CESA-Columbia, said "Jamie brings an incredible resume and work ethic to our club. We are particularly excited that we were able to find someone of his caliber to work with our younger players. It appropriately reflects our focus on offering the absolute best training to all age groups."

Coach Smith is in his fifth season coaching at USC. A top recruiter and evaluator of talent, Coach Smith earned his first collegiate coaching award this past Fall when he was selected as one of the AFLAC Assistant Coaches of the Year. Pearse Tormey, President of CESA-Columbia, and Hyslop said that more coaches would be announced in the next few weeks.

Tryout dates, locations, and associated information for the club will be announced by Thursday, May 18.

WOW!!!! What an opportunity for Cloumbia area soccer players to take advantage of. My beloved Brittany throughly enjoyed the professional, challenging training she recieved from Coach's Smith, Heilich, and Cosgriff while she played for CESA and ODP. Also a couple of years ago she got to trian with Coach Christian when they were both at Columbia Soccer Club, she played for Coach Heather Frederick, but once in a while got the opportunity to train with Coach Christian and his team. In my oppinion the CESA folks have the best interest for the players and the game, trying to to make these dreams and ideas become reality is fantastic, not just only for Columbia players but ALL players.
