The SCHSL has asked a few teams to demo balls for the Finals. As you recall there have been problems in the past. The ball that has been approved for play this year is the Spaulding TF-3000. The balls are provided free for the championship games by Spaulding as part of a contract with SCHSL.
I strongly urge coaches to purchase one. It has a nice feel and does not stick to the turf like others. But, it is very lively.

Are those the same balls from last year because i remember people having there foot getting stuck to them all the time when they try to cut or something. Besides the team purchasing a ball to try out is there a way the game balls can be broken in for the State Games so they dont have that "sticky" new feel?

As the above post says, the ball does not stick. It is a different model from the last 2 years.

now another ? for ya. Does the SCHSL take bids from others than Spaulding and when does that contract end?

How many schools play soccer with a Spaulding ball? Its a great ball for vollyball but I not sure that it is the ball of choice for soccer. I feel that if a ball is going to be mandated for play, then everyone should have to use it all year. Is there only one ball used in college? The pros? If not then the home team provides the ball. Just like we do for every game. I just think that if you are able to get to the state finals then you should not have to go out and buy new balls just for one game!

This championship ball mess is horrible! The SCHSL needs to wise up and realize that football and basketball are not the only sports played in SC, and that Spalding equipment is not appropriate for all sports. Great have a contract with that company, put up a sign, but to force quality players to use a Spalding match ball in the finals when they have never used it before???!! Roger Hazel, grow a pair and fix it, contract smontract!

Why is a three-side polygon on the ball? Makes me wonder about the meaning of a triangle:

i don't think i've ever seen a spaulding made soccer ball before. wow, from the website they only offer 2 balls? (1 for indoor and 1 for outdoor use). when i think of all the soccer ball manufacturers, spaulding does not come to mind.

you would think that for the championship games they (schsl) would choose to use the very best soccer balls. would the spaulding folks know if they didn't use their balls for the games? and would they care? with only offering 2 soccer balls it doesn't appear that they are making a big push towards the soccer market.

with having a choice would anyone ever choose to buy a spaulding soccer ball? are there any hs teams that play with spaulding balls during the season?
