To the following who gave their time over 2 days to make the state championships a first class event. From hauling ice, sodas, Gatorade, water, making hotdogs, selling candy, selling programs, making field preparations, cleaning dressing rooms, announcing, doing security, running balls, taking tickets, and everything else under the sun.
To the other of our 198 members we could have used your help. This money made goes to help with the North/South games in June, Coach of Year awards, and coaching milestone awards that we all benefit from. If I left anyone off please correct this post and add them. Again THANK YOU!!

And thank you, Coach Smith, for your tireless efforts over the years in making this event special for the participants ... this year included!

I would also like to thank the University of South Carolina staff and soccer coaches for making this event possible in Columbia.
Stone Stadium is an excellent venue for the SCHSL State Championships and without their support it would not be possible.

A couple of comments I would like to make regarding the fans that attended this weekend.
Great crowds on hand at Stone Stadium, though I was disappointed by the turnout for Riverside in both games.
One fan, who moved to South Carolina from Florida, mentioned to me that he really appreciated the professionalism of the staff and the respect given to prep soccer that has made this event a "showcase" for the participating teams.
Please remember that the "staff" are either SCHSL employees (ticket gate) or members of the SC High School Soccer Coaches Association, so many of those coaches do not have their teams playing this particular weekend and that can be a tough thing to balance considering many of them had teams very close to reaching these matches. They are to be commended for their volunteer status at this event and I know I'm one of many to say 'thanks'!
P.S. -- One more thing, considering that this is a high school event and not something at the collegiate or professional level, people might be a little more courteous by having the correct monetary amounts for the weekend. I know some people like to dole out C-Notes to cut down on the size of their wallets, but it is kind of hard to change out a $100 bill without making it look like that person has just visited an adult night club. Same goes for the concession stand when someone hands you a $100 bill for a $2 Gatorade. Ugh!

What was amazing was that some of the folks with the $100 bills were the same ones complaining of the $8 ticket while walking back to their Range Rovers and BMWs. ![[Eek!]](images/icons/shocked.gif)
