From those of us up here in the Fort Mill soccer community.....we extend our deepest sympathy.
Kids play sports because they find it fun. Eliminate the fun and soon you eliminate the kid.

From the CESA website:
Mac Allen Thursday, September 21, 2006 (0 reads)
Mac has decided to leave this life much earlier than anyone of us had wanted. He was a very special son to us and we will miss him very dearly. We want to thank everyone for their outpouring of prayers and thoughts. Mac has touched us all and we will never forget him and in his memory we will start a fund in his name. So please send monies in lieu of flowers to CESA Mac Allen Memorial Fund 18 Boland Ct Greenville, SC 29615. We are planning a Monday noon memorial service at Brookwood Church followed by graveside services. He lived and breathed CESA soccer and he would have wanted everyone to have a great weekend of soccer so please tell your kids to play hard and fair this weekend just like Mac would have. If you have any pictures or video of Mac that you can share we would love to have them. God Bless everyone!! The Allens

My heartfelt and sincerest sympathy to the Allen family. I cannot imagine the pain that Mac's family, friends and teammates are in now. May God bless them all.

My prayers are with this family. I'm praying that they will feel the nearness of God through this tragedy. For all of you who know - please pour out your love with your presence. Don't worry about not knowing what to say - there are no words that can take away the pain, but your presence and hugs - reminds them that they are not alone.

I heard that Mac's service was well-attended yesterday. Good job to everyone who showed up to support his family and celebrate his life.

I'm a lousy judge of numbers......but I'll guess there were 1200-1500 people at the funeral.
Nice service with a mix of laughs and tears. Some of the pictures shown were absolutely heartbreaking.
Pearse Tormey and the coach from Furman gave very nice talks, as did two of Mac's teachers. Probably the most emotional came from a little guy who I think was a year behind Mac.....and he basically said that he would live his life and experience certain milestones for Mac (kiss a girl for the first time, etc) and would tell him all about it when he went to heaven.
'93 boys all seemed to handle things admirably....teary eyed at the end, but composed. When a couple of us parents left the sanctuary to go home.....we found about 8-10 of the '93 and '94 boys out in the lobby area sitting on a couch / bench type thing eating cookies together and just hanging out. Pls keep them all in your prayers, as well as obviously the Allen family and close friends.
And for our friends at Bridge...there were some great pictures of the two teams battling it out either 2 or 3 years ago when Bridge was primarily a Summerville team. Pretty cool to see the kids from the early days of a rivalry that will hopefully last thru U18!!
