The school principal took away a couple starting players out of the team because of grades.. Could this affect the way the region 7 in 3-A is gonna go??

Not to send this thread off on a tangent, but any academic issue is the player's "fault" ..if the players took themselves off the team that is most unfortunate for Hilton Head.

you're right the players that were involved in this whole thing were a midfielder and forward both were starting at practices and games and one of them was on the team last year.. either way Hilton Head played hard on the James Island game. another thing is this player are on hold for right now because theyre trying to work things out to play again

I need a little clarification.

Are we talking about a player being eligible by SCHSL standards in which case there is no "working it out", they either qualified or they didn't. (sidebar, as a teacher the "working it out" comment sends up red flags)

Or are we talking about Hilton Head setting higher academic standards for their student athletes in which case how they decide to handle it is indeed up to the administration/district?

I think the problems for hilton Head revolve around loosing players to the Bluffton High School and that they graduated almost all of their team from the previous year. In addition, they have had three different coaches in the last three seasons. All these things together will cause anyone problems. Hopefully their new coach will get them ready for Region 7-3A, he seems very committed!!

Coach Ken is a great coach.. he goes by the rules.. HH past coaches didnt really follow them like this one does.. answer to the question i think that the players are just having trouble with the HH academics and not the schsl. one of the players is back on the team but theres another one who told me wont try cuz he needs to worry about graduating and not soccer and on top of that his on a bad knee injury
