You guys are trying so hard it almost looks like you are trying to convince yourselves and not 202677!

RotR: I guess it depends on your perspective. There are times that I absolutely can't understand another's point of view, regardless of how hard I try. What I try to do is to engage the person so that I can do a better job of understanding their perspective to see what I might have missed.

If club ABC were tax-supported, then I can understand someone who paid taxes saying they didn't want ABC to offer a program. If I was the DOC at club XYZ, and ABC offered a program that meant I'd have to work harder to attract players, I'd understand that DOC being critical of ABC's program. This doesn't mean I'd agree, just that I'd understand.

However, I'm having trouble understanding the position that clubs shouldn't offer spring programs for U15+ players from a player or parental perspective. An opposing club, DOC, or coach perspective? Sure! But a player or parental position?

It used to be that the major argument about "dual participation" was missing a game or a practice. But that wasn't even the case here -- it was just about how some teenagers and their parents chose to spend their weekend. Instead of going to parties, or hanging at the mall, or whatever -- the kids went to play at a nationally ranked tournament.

Maybe you can explain it to me... (insert hopeful emoticon here!)

It's all about the players, parents & coaches working together.

Fort Mill had two players go to Jeff Cup and miss their Friday night game versus York. A lot of other girls got an opportunity to play and FM won comfortably 8-0.

Charlotte Catholic had two of their girls go to Jeff Cup and they missed their Saturday morning HS game against Charlotte Country Day. (FM lost to CC 4-1, and beat CD 2-0). Final score, Country Day 1, Catholic 0.

Point is....everyone was up front and was doing what was best for the kids.
