I just wanted to say that "Captain America" gained much of my respect back last night. Too often in these "showcase" preseason tournaments, many of the marquis players of the MLS clubs don't show. Granted, sometimes it is due to injury but it seems that mainly its because the players don't feel a need to show. I commend Claudio Reyna on not only being there, but carrying himself as a humble man. Prior to the match, before coming on to the field at the half, and after the match, he made a steady effort to speak to everyone who spoke to him and to sign autographs for the many kids holding out pens, balls, and shirts. I was very impressed by this. Many players of his caliber and experience wouldn't do this.
Also, just throwing this out there: Dane Richards, the former Clemson standout got in the match with about 30 mins left in the second half. He immediately created multiple scoring opportunities with his speed and hustle and ultimately took the shot that was poked in for New York's game winning goal. Well done Dane and good luck in the future bud.
