my kid didn't make it. Oh well, we'll still take the 12k/yr scholarship next year.

Farkas,
Your daughter had a very good year and was certainly worthy of making this team. There were at least another half dozen players (some more from your school) that could have been named to the squad.

Farkas, that's the kind of response that loudly advertises today's youth soccer parents and their attitudes.

Farkus: I'm sorry she didn't make the team but I know you and she are proud of the scholarship. Sometimes wonderful players are overlooked for awards. I remember in 2005 Blakely Mattern (the USC player that was named the all-SEC defensive player of the year this year and was the Gatorade POY in SC in 2006), didn't make all-state (after she had made it in 2004.)

Oh -- and I meant to say -- congratulations to all of the players that made it and in particular congratulations to Ashleigh Sheets. I personally think that Ashleigh is the best player to come out of Fort Mill in a long time -- and that's saying something given some of the outstanding players who have been in that program. Ashleigh is a wonderful player -- best of luck to her in college.

The Herald doesn't list their All-Area teams on-line, they are only available in the newspaper.
