I suppose I was kind of pissed that she didn't make this little newspaper clip but whatever, I'm just human.

Kind of edgy ain't we?

Here's a breakdown of the teams represented.

AAAA
6 - #6 Fort Mill (18-3-3)
2 - #15 Clover (14-7-1)
3 - Northwestern (10-11)
3 - Nation Ford (10-6-1)
2 - Rock Hill (6-13)

AAA
1 - Chester (4-12)

A
3 - Indian Land (12-6)

Get a smile on your face. Euro2008 Group of Death is about to begin :-).

Hatem,

Fort Mill had five on the team.

Shibumi,

I'm totally convinced I was some type of proofreader or fact checker in a previous life!

As far as Clover, there were probably at least 3 that should have been there. As with a lot of the high school awards/teams, there is too much club/relationships in the mix when they are selected

Is there a MLB All-Star game type stipulation that at least one player from every school gets picked?

I'm guessing that this will get more and more funky as the schools get closer. Parity....will breed fewer slam dunks.

In the two newspapers I've submitted to, coaches send in their players ranked in order with a list of statistics to back it up. The newspaper then decides who to include.

Dale Jr,

From what I understand, that's how it works at The Herald as well. Barry Byers has told me in the past that it is often difficult to get some coaches to respond and provide him with the names of ANY of their players.

Daddy,

You think it's going to get difficult or "funky" in the future? How about right now? One could argue that the best player from the following teams didn't even make All-Area this year: Clover, York & Rock Hill.

As for one rep per team, I didn't see anyone listed from Lewisville, South Pointe, York, Lancaster or Westminister Catawba.

I think some of the coaches may look to "spread the wealth". In some cases, coaches may look to nominate different players for All-Area than they do for All-Region.

None of this makes any difference of course. The Herald is not the final authority on the worthiness of athletes, nor their cumlitave contirbutions to a team. Neither are the cold stats.
However, keep in mind that I'm just an imported, gun totin(22 bolt action), red necked, money grubbing, ref badgering soccer parent. (although never actually removed from a game by security, LOL)
The personal growth of my daughter is the true reward of participation.
