The strength coach at Gaffney I heard was making 75,000. (for a full time position) This was from a VERY reliable source. I wonder what the strength coach from Byrnes makes (one of the biggest keys to their success)? PROBABLY MORE!

You guys made my point... It was lower than expected at some places.

I still have to say, Bless all of you. A lot of good life lessons come thru you and your efforts. I would like to go on record and say, that the 2500 - 4000 is too LOW, for what you folks do.

Is there a thread somewhere or list of what coaches make? What do the big guys make Wando, Riverside, Mauldin?

How many head football coaches are not full-time in the school district? Of course they can make more than the soccer coach.

The Gaffney strength coach was making 75,000, so I assumed the head coach/ad made more. Aren't most coaches full time employees? History teacher, PE teacher, Western Civ, ISS or something, not counting the Coach/AD, the AD part is his full time position. Seriously, just asking.

At the rates the other coaches were quoting, a hard working soccer coach pushes his hourly rate to the 10 dollar per hour range. (pre season conditioning, in season practice, games, etc..) The strength coach making 75,000 for a year around job, is making nearer $40. Not arguing, just making a point.

I do not want you guys to just pound on me, for the fun of it. I just want to make the point. That time wise, effort wise, responsibiltiy wise it is not equal pay for equal work. An hour for a soccer guru, should be the same wage as the weight lifting guru, but that is just me. You guys have a lot of time in the soccer scene. Just want to ask again, has there ever been a listing of soccer coaches salaries?

You would think the information on salary of public employees would be public...or for that matter the budget of a public school would be public to the smallest detail.

I have been trying to find out the budget allocated to the different sports for years... no luck ....just a total number which is meaningless.

Perfect world secenario, we would all make what we should. Real world scenario we make what we do. There are no locks on the gates and this is still America we can find other jobs or sports.

One rule that I heard as a young man and learned as I got older is, "that in a free market no one is over or under paid". I also understand that schools are tax supported and that leads to a completely new topic.

I will say that paying people for the fine work they do is a wonderful idea. But is the well of cash that deep?

I don't often use this forum to talk about myself but I will say with what I have been paid over the last five years (talking double figures) I'm still a volunteer. I would, if need be, pay for the opportunities that I have been given at Berkeley. I often say and feel that I am overpaid. The reward of working with this new generation of young people is priceless to me.

Which helps explain, at least to some degree, why many soccer coaches are among the hardest working in the field of athletics; you don't find very many people signing up to coach soccer "just for the money." The bright side is that there are many people who sign up to coach this sport because they really enjoy what they do, not just to see a difference in their paychecks--and I think that attitude, even when it's not openly stated, is one that the players pick up on.

Well said, I was just trying to make sure our coaches were getting a square deal. If I had a frame of reference, I could help raise money or lobby for some. Thanks...

There is no square deals in coaching..football rules..get use to it..If I had to have a coach take a job because the money was good or have a coach that wanted to coach my team and not ask what the pay is..who do you think I would pick?

Papa Hatfield, great idea on the help and concerns! I am sure with a few minutes of asking your coach, he can give a few ideas on some needs.

I had a parent that was the biggest help ever, he brought sports drinks at halftime for all the players. It worked much better than any chat I had ever been able to pull off.
