I don't understand why anyone would be expecting Mary Bynum to be lobbying for SC players inclusion in region pool? Her job as I understand it is to make sure the trains run ontime.
Make sure that age groups have coaches, tryouts are held in a standard manner, communications are made, paperwork completed, fees collected, etc.
I would argue......that if you were to broaden the expectations for what she does......it would be to add a strategic angle to her job. Why are certain age groups successful and others not? How can best practices be shared by successful age groups with less successful age groups. How can SCYSA change its ODP program to make it more competitive?
The last thing I'd expect.....or want.....is for any administrator to be making or lobbying or having any input whatsoever....into soccer decisions of any kind. Thats why you have soccer professionals out there....
Is there bias in region selections? I'm sure there are. But as a friend told me......the top 15 kids in the region ARE getting selected. Its the next 15 kids where there's squabbling. And those are the kids unlikely to make the region team anyway.
