Great games today!

Rock Hill impressed me with their 2-0 win over Grace Academy. #7(i think) of RH did a great job holding the defense together, and the first goal was a very nice shot by #9.

First half of Charlotte Catholic and Clover was a very close and even game. From what i can remember, #6 of clover stood out with some great moves and passes.

NW vs FCD was an intense game. Feel like FCD had more chances and better possesion the whole game. hit the bar once off a header but just couldnt find the net. Props to #10 on NW holding the defense together.

Another heartbreaker for the Lady Jackets. Through 75 minutes they dominated Lake Norman (#2 NC AAA) in shots (13-4), corners (5-1), and possession. Unfortunately, everything was just wide, or just high, or just too soft. Then, with 5 minutes to play, another devastating defensive error--a blatant take-down from behind in the box--and a PK wins it for Lake Norman.

Very good games tonight. Great weather for the players, a bit chilly for the fans.

Nation Ford gets a 1-0 win over Olympic on a nice goal by Macy Simpson. Unfortunately Macy later went down with what appears to be a serious knee injury. Many familiar faces in the stands for this match as girls from both teams grew up playing club soccer together.

Rock Hill over Grace Academy 2-0 behind two goals from Alex Ramsey. Grace Academy really knocks the ball around quite well and they will have a couple more girls available for their match against Northwestern tomorrow.

First Presbyterian Day (Macon, GA) looked like a well-oiled machine in their 3-0 victory over Eastside. They have some very talented players on their roster and a couple of very dangerous forwards up top.

Clover stood toe-to-toe with NC 3A power Charlotte Catholic before falling 1-0. Catholic scored with less than 10 minutes to play in the match. Freshman center defender Kylie Allen was a monster in the back for Clover.

Northwestern held a very good Forsyth Country Day team scoreless through 80 minutes. While FCD had more talent, Cantona's Lady Trojans did more work.

Fort Mill thrashed a very good Lake Norman team in the night cap, but the scoreboard doesn't lie. The Lady Jackets failed to convert on at least five good chances and Lake Norman made them pay with five minutes remaining in the match. Lake Norman's only shot in the second half of the match was a PK and they converted it.

More good high school girls soccer tomorrow.

Aargh! Another last minute loss for the Lady Jackets, this time to Georgia private school power First Presbyterian Day. We had watched senior striker Kelsey Black run rings around Eastside and Lexington. FM held her in check until the 79th minute, when she got loose in the box and spun around FM keeper Alexis McLaine for the only goal of the match. FM played them very close, and led in shots 10-8. Possession probably 55-45% FM, at least. Sigh. Physical match, too...total of 22 fouls called.

FPD had beaten Eastside 3-0, and Lexington 2-0.

Other scores today:
Rock Hill 7, Hickory Grove Christian 0
Charlotte Butler 3, Eastside 0
Forsyth Country Day 3, Nation Ford 0
RJ Reynolds 3, Westminster Catawba 0
Northwestern 1, Grace Academy 1
Ardrey Kell 4, Clover 0
Lake Norman 2, Lexington 0
