In a cost-cutting move, the Southern Conference announces that only the top four teams in men's and women's soccer will compete in the SoCon championship for a shot at an NCAA bid.
At least they touched on some of the other sports as well and not solely soccer..Of course,Football is giving up media day..What a sacrifice..Hopefully the economy will pick up and things will get back to normal.
I guess they tried to hit everybody a little. I've never been a fan of 8 teams making the tournament anyway. Same with the Big South. I wouldn't mind 6 with 1 and 2 getting a bye and 3 and 4 hosting a first round then the remaining 4 play a Friday/Sunday championship. Would like to reward the 1 and 2 seed for their body of work. May also eliminate teams with losing records making the playoffs.
I'd hate to finish 5th this season!
