There's a difference between being a vocal coach and encouraging your players and pointing things out for them to pay attention to and being purposefully degrading and humiliating.
I love a coach who coaches from the sidelines and points out offsides or tells you to look to switch fields or mark up, to a certain extent. S/he shouldn't be yelling the whole game, but rather sporadically pointing out things being missed so that the mistakes can be recognised and corrected as you go--I could never remember specific mistakes post-game and so never learned from them when dad brought them up later. I also think there's no place for a coach who would intentionally break down his players mid-game with derogatory comments. I have never once seen that work effectively in all my years of playing girls' soccer.
My best coach coached from the sidelines and it was awesome, but he could also get very mad at half time and sometimes curse or point out specific breakdowns we HAD to fix, but he never once made anyone feel less than they were.
