You know my daughters have coaches that care about every pass, touch, and possession. And yet they have never demeaned my child. I've heard my kids name yelled out during a game - and it was because of a mistake my child made. Yes, the coach told her something that was wrong, but he managed to do it without nastiness in his voice and without humiliating my child.

I don't know what coach they are talking about so I couldn't say whether this is the coaches usual demeanor or not.

I think the bit about it being R3PL is a copout. Coaches shouldn't get a free pass on their treatment of players just because it is at a higher league. Basically you are saying the coach can't take the pressure of R3PL so he lashes out at the players.

I know of a coach that has coached a girls team in this state since they were U11's. He treated the girls horribly, and to this day there is just a handful of girls left from the original team. They struggle with numbers every single year. He treats the girls poorly and they in turn treat eachother poorly. (Before anyone say why don't the girls quit, well, I know of at least one girl whose parents won't let her quit. It is a sad situation.)

Anyway, it culminated last week into two of those girls in a fist fight rolling around on the ground pummeling each other with fists.

So no, I don't agree at all with a coach treating players with disrespect or humiliation. There are too many successful coaches in professional, college and high school sports who have shown that degrading and humiliating players is a sign of poor coaching.

AGain, I don't know what coach is being talked about, but if it is true that they can't seem to communicate coaching advice without doing so in a negative manner, I do not think they are much of a coach. Who cares if they win, look at the cost to the kids if that is what it takes to get a "w".
