Since he takes the same raw material that is available to every other D1 coach, and wears their butts out, I would say a bunch. He only takes 6 or so a year, there is plenty left to play with. Evidently he gets more out of the ones he gets.
Why has Phil Jackson won as many rings as he has, or the Patriots coach done what he has done. They are developing players, systems and processes, to do so. Yes, even at that level they develop players. Your thought process would state that all championships at D1 or higher are random events, or foregone conclusions... since there is no development. I do not think so.
