What a pointless thread! The so called practice uniform is a t-shirt (it is given out at tryouts) and black shorts. No one is forced to go buy uniforms to practice in. It seems that some people just look for ways to put others down. People wonder why the clubs in the lowcountry can not work together - maybe it is due to these types of parents.

The try out jersey is given to the player after their parents pay the $25 or $30 tryout fee. The practice shirts are part of the uniform package that players parents have to buy. The practice shirts aren't handed out for free at Llyods.

Nothing is free at Lloyds.

Easy there guys - MPSC and most other teams have a practice kit. The points made earlier about it being smart is on target and MPSC is not too different in that respect that most other clubs. Let's quit the whining and focus on player development and not get so hung up on who is going to beat who.
Just my 2 cents.

One would think that the DOC and MPSC staff would have made a call into our local sports shop, since there is only ONE that you can buy the uniform and practice kit (monopoly, kickback, stimulate the economy) to ensure there was a supply of LOGOS that say MPSC so that the 500 or so parents didn't have to make multiple trips to get a practice jersey.

This is why the lowcountry soccer is what it is, wake up, pay a "business person", not an A licensed coach to run the business side of the cash cow that MPSC could be. It is a business and lets call it what it is.

Do not take this as a slam on the coaching staff, I believe that it is better than it has been in the past 4 years, it is the business side that we can not get correct. Volunteer positions that handle and coordinate 100's of thousand dollars will not be successful. My opinion take it and slam away as you will.

I don't know that there is a need to slam. MPSC operates within the town of Mt. Pleasant's Recreation Department (something that has been a blessing and an albatross at the same time). There are many paid employees of the town and of the club that coordinate many of its programs and finances. The board which works very closely with the town, DOCs and staff is populated by business people who are volunteers. Likewise the parents of all players are required to volunteer their time (or pay an opt out fee) to help run tournaments, etc. So there are many volunteers that help MPSC.

No club or team is perfect. We can all learn from each other along with the mistakes and successes we each encounter and achieve.

Just posting because nothing has happened on the board for a while and this one has caught my interest for a few days.

First off, kudos to MPSC for their recent kind donation of $20,000 back to the town to help improve their facilities at Patriots Point. This is the sort of thing that separates good soccer clubs from great ones. We all know there is money in youth sports and soccer (who are we trying to kid in pretending otherwise). I find it very refreshing to see some of it channeled back into the community as an investment in our childrens future. Again well done.

Next, I would like to say that Lloyds has treated our new club and its members very fairly and while the services they provided us (like printing) were not actually free, they were at a very reasonable and fair price. And for the record they did donate some items free to our club as door prizes for our upcoming AGM. Thank you Rich, Marc, and guys.

Now as to uniform and training gear. I happen to be training our U12G squad a few hundred yards from a certain elite club in the lowcountry and have somewhat of a funny story.

Driving to our field I noticed the elite club training in perfect, matching uniforms and felt fairly cheap having supplied the typical T shirt to my girls, albeit with our fetching crest on front. (I personally think it is the coolest around).

Anyway matters got worse as a couple of the elite squad know some of my girls and of course stopped by after their training to say hello and join in. I could see my squad looking at the fetching colors but like typical 11 year olds said nothing.

I got caught up in this and was seriously thinking about changing our approcah for next season until the next session when three of my girls arrived and promptly told me that each had ruined their training T (dog ate one, one lost one, and one got messed up in the wash)

We'll be sticking with training T's.

Gotta love knowing you haven't lost much in a deal, eh?

Props to Lloyd's--they have taken good care of me and my players both in club and high school dealings and have often gone above the call of duty.
