Great article from Jim Baxter of SCVarsity.com showing once again the inconsistencies of the SCHSL.

Agreed!

If this would have been "other schools" rather than the prestige of Summerville (McKissick) and the "HSL's right-hand" man from Stratford (Stackley, who serves on the Executive Board), these schools would be on probation and banned from the playoffs.

You can bet too, that if this was soccer, it would've been a unanimous vote to ban them from the playoffs without much debate!

imo, it's been tarnished for long time and there isn't the leadership in place to transform it into a progressive/foward thinking governing body.

in-house succession planning is at the root-cause of the problem.

This speaks volumes about the "Good Ole Boy" society that is the S.C. High School League.

I try hard to support their motto of "An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules...", but there is such a double-standard in regards to athletics across the board. If this incident would have happened in any other sport or involved other programs then the SCHSL would have thrown the baby out with the bath water!

Word is they gave Boiling Springs High School the death penalty for having a 8th grader in a Spring Scrimmage. Now, the word is they gave a team permission to play with 3 - 8th graders, to keep a team in tact. Just what I heard, but...

I have been a football guy my whole life, however, I think the soccer kids get held to a much higher standard by the refs and the SCHSL.

Par for the course! They'll probably win too!

Here is a quote from Coach McKissick about the situation from the Journal Scene in Summerville:

I feel we will appeal it, McKissick said. I disagree with them making a decision and telling us that the next day players cant play. It takes time to get someone who is not a starter ready to play and if you take a bunch of guys out at the same time there are concerns with safety. Im disappointed for the kids and worried about the way this looks. It makes it look like we have a bunch of sorry kids and that is not the case.

It seems to me that Summerville is appealing so they won't lose a football game!

If you remember it was just a couple of years back, that Summerville had an ineligible player on JV because he was in the 8th grade twice...the dad was a Varsity football coach, and Sville basically said they did not know the student was held back to play football. Again, only players were suspended and Coach McKissick was not in trouble.

If a soccer coach, commmitted the same crime...what would our punishment be??

Anyone else see the strong ties to Clemson being played out? So many Clemson grads in the high ups there and then the state championship being played there. Why do you think that came about? Then the two coaches...Clemson grads if I am not mistaken.
