What about 2A? Last year both Batesburg-Leesville and Gilbert had very strong seasons. What do they have returning this year?

someone should create a thread just for coaches to give us a little insight on their teams for this upcoming season. We keep talking about the same teams over and over. I am sure the rest of the state is tired of reading about Region 5 3A

Yea especially cause that region isnt even that strong. It just happens to be the region with the reigning state champs. Wasnt that the first win for the lowerstate in a while? It was a fluke and the upperstate will be on top again this year. It seems like a lot of people from region 5 just like to talk up there own team.

There seem to be a lot of SA people on here then, and they wont even be good due to their loss in numbers. BL lost last years defense which will hurt them immensely. They have a quality center mid from what I remember but I don't know if he can take that team anywhere. I see them losing in the early rounds of the playoffs if they make it.

Batesburg did lose two all state defenders and a very good striker, but bring back a very solid center midfielder and a very skilled striker. Their team was strong last year so look for some of the younger guys who played supporting roles last year to step up. I know they had a few good kids on JV that will be playing important roles this year as well. They should be very good again this year!
Gilbert brings back one of the best players in AA. They had a good team last year too, and with Darlington coaching they should definitely be a contender in the upper state.

I agree soccertennis... they are good every year, and will probably be the highest ranked team in the upperstate for most, if not the entire year.

AA talk starts and ends with Bishop England. Just like A does with Christ Church. No one else until proven different.

I think we are talking Public school not private.
First of all , Bishop England should be playing 3A or 4A with their student enrollment.
I think the other teams that will be good in 2A this year will be Walhalla, Gilbert, Batesburg/Leesville, Woodruff.

I wonder who will be competing with the Bishops in the Low state this year.

Bishop England shouldn't be playing public school at all! Different rules for one school doesn't make any logical sense. But we are dealing with the High School League again aren't we. IMO - They will never be moved from 2A until they play by the same rules as everyone else. Of course I digress to another topic from years gone by. Move them to 1A so they can really enjoy the competition. That wouldn't be fair either now would it. I just don't see where BE feels their State titles are really worthy.
