Manchester has some sort of a saying on all of his posts....something about competition breeding excellence, or something like that. I find this years State Cup results, fascinating......

CESA appears to have won EVERY age group and every gender. Total domination? Maybe.....

But every game was a 1 goal game and in a lot of cases the teams CESA was playing simply aren't that good.

Is soccer in South Carolina really getting better? Or are the clubs (CESA, really) only doing a better job of getting more out of town talent into their club? Is a rising tide lifting all boats? Is the overall pie getting bigger?

Pick your cliche'. Looks to me like its not. Maybe becasue of Academy, maybe for this or that. But I would argue that soccer in SC hasn't been this uncompetitive in a long time. And that without a foil to play off of.....CESA will plateau out.

Because competition breeds excellence.
