Longtime occasional observer, but first time poster ...

1. There's more to life than my kids soccer 8 days a week.

2. The money tree in the backyard is a little bare these days due to this great economy we are currently living in.

Isn't this the truth? Remember when practices were on Tuesday/Thursday with a game on the weekend? This is when soccer was simple.

I've had three kids play soccer - two from my previous marriage and now one with my current marriage. It's night and day between how it used to be and how it is today. I've been shocked this season as my two grown kids played when fees were restricted to registration and minimal travel and tourneys.

Now, it's a sizable amount of money just to play and then the "extras" such as Academy, ODP, soccer camps (which I question their use/existence anymore with the exception of money-makers), uniforms, tryout fees, etc. It's really amazing how the landscape has changed in 15 years!
