I wonder how this will affect Donovan's availability for friendlies with the US side in preparation for the World Cup. I've read they're about to finalize a match with Honduras for January 24 with friendlies being planned against Mexico in February and possibly the Netherlands and/or Northern Ireland in March or May. March 3rd is the only pre-World Cup FIFA international fixture date so clubs would not necessarily be bound to release their players on other dates. Everton have an FA cup match on January 23, six or seven fixtures in February, and six or seven in March depending on their FA Cup success.

The deal is now done and he will arrive at Everton on January 1st or 2nd. Can't wait to se how he does although he doesn't have a lot of time to get used to it.

I'll be surprised if we see him produce very much. The EPL is a very physical league and I don't think that suits Donovan's game very well. He was close to signing with Club America in Mexico which would have been a hoot since he is known and hated by all Mexican fans. But hopefully the time in England will toughen him up a bit, it certainly won't hurt.

I believe that he will do ok I have been watching this Everton team closely and comparing Donavan's style and with his passing ability he will be just what they need to help boost their midfield.
