For the record

I do not know Jim or Joe's dad and have no ill feeling towards any of these clubs. Quite the opposite. As you probably know, yesterday was the Coastal District SCYSA AGM and I talked with representatives (board members/presidents) of most of the clubs you mentioned. I consider Stephen at DISA a friend and he used to coach my son and I was very pleased with the coaching he received.

I think you will have to look beyond geography to consider whether mergers are suitable and I'd be happy to talk to anyone who shares our mission and goals for quality, low cost soccer that draws more kids into the game. Just give me a call and we'll get a sit down arranged. David Tunesi (843) 408 5099

I find it interesting that so many people on this board focus on worrying about what we are doing and not on what everyone should be doing. Promoting the sport and keeping the kids in it beyond the often overworked and stretched city and town rec programs. To draw more kids in to the game we should establish soccer fields and community based and supported organizations (one or many chiefs - who cares) in every corner of our region.

Later on, tryouts and quality coaching will draw from a much larger pool and gain the success you are looking for. Consolidation at this end makes much more sense.

In a nutshell, I'm flattered to be considered merger material with DISA, but think a better approach would be to work with rec programs and elementary schools to look for advances in player base. I consider success increased registration and diversity in the sport. Our goal is 300 + in the fall and we do not want to pull all of these from existing clubs although I'm certain some will come. We will be increasing our services next year.

By the way, it is LSYSA AGM on Thursday so wonder whether this topic will be brought up by any?
