I'm not excusing poor refereeing, but it sounds to me like the real shame is on the part of the parents and their teenagers who don't know how to behave. Sure, the referees should do things designed to control the game, but parents should teach their children how to control their behavior/temper. But I guess you can't expect that from parents who can't control their own actions as described above. The responsibilty also should be taken, at least in part, by the coaches who should hold a higher standard for their players both in what they teach them and in the example they set. No referee, college aged or whatever, should have to handle the type of situations described in this thread.
