I agree with the fact that encouragement from the parents is good for the kids, I think that the point of this "Silent Saturday" is to help with the negative comments from parents. They could make a rule where the parents are allowed to say only positive things about the kids, however, this would be incredibly hard to enforce. With the nothing but clapping rule, it easily rules out any negative comments that would be said by the parents.
