This is more than just the playoffs or teams just having a bad night. During the first half of the 2010 season there were at least 9 games where the goal difference was 15 or more. According to Massey ratings for the first half of the season, the AVERAGE score was 4.36-0.49 for ALL games (1069). That means for all those 1 and 2 goal difference games, there were quite a few where the margin was greater than 4 to balance to the overall 4 goal difference on average. There are a whole lot of one-sided games going on each season!

I have lurked on this board for years but never felt the need to comment until now. If you look at the Regions, the following occurred on Monday night:
Upper State
Region 1 - 0 wins
Region 2 - 4 wins
Region 3 - 2 wins
Region 4 - 2 wins
Lower State
Region 5 - 4 wins
Region 6 - 0 wins
Region 7 - 3 wins
Region 8 - 1 win
Would it be fair to "punish" the 4th seed team of Region 2 and Region 5 because other Regions 4th seed teams are not as skilled? Region 2 and Region 5 are probably the two toughest regions top to bottom and the 4th seed teams in those regions deserve to make playoffs. 
Are we playing Hillcrest at home tomorrow night!?!?!

Region 5 won all their games by a combined score of 48-1, with the 4 seed beating the #1 seed by score of 11-1.

Yeah, I didn't realize that I lost last night either! Also, Wren lost in a very close and competitive match with Spartanburg. I know we are not region 2's equal top to bottom, but it wasn't 4-0 between our regions either. Quote:

I believe this is referring to the 3-A playoffs.

Well in that case alot will be solved next year when the 4A size schools in 3A start playing 4A size schools with re-alignment. Maybe there will be fewer walkovers then, or maybe not.
Would be interesting to see how the teams moving up faired, as well as the team moving down. Maybe a comparision of size of schools in some of the whoppings administered last night/tonight.

How many people believed that tiny Hickory High would win the Indiana State b-ball championship in Hoosiers???
That makes absolutely no sense to me. You already have the state divided by school size. What would be different if you created four divisions and divided by by another method. Each team would still have the same opportunity to win their division. In fact, most schools would have a better opportunity to win.
I'm very confused about what you are trying to say. You're OK dividing, but only if by school size and not another factor?

And this doesn't include all the games where a team spends 50+% of their time not trying to score. If they did, it would be MUCH worse.
