Congratulations to Coach Andy Grist for a very admirable job of coaching and training these two teams this season.
The 95 Classic girls were Finalists in State Cup this season after finishing in 5th place during the regular season. A great job of improvement during the entire season.
The 95 Elite Team finished 3rd in State Cup after finishing in 4th place during the Challenge League regular season.
I think it is very noteworthy the job that was accomplished this season by Coach Grist. There are many items to be proud of in their season of soccer.
There is only 1 ODP Player on the 95 Elite Team. In first round defeated a team with over 7 ODP Players on team. In second round lost to team that has 10 ODP Players on team as well as being a RIIIPL team.
All of the players on the team live within 20 miles of their practice field. He trains what he has been given this season, may change next season with the emergence on SCUFC-MP but only time will tell.
I read every day name calling over who stole whose players and how they will steal them back. This is a positive example of how actually training and coaching what you have will build positive young women and soccer players and on any day compete with a group of prima donna parents and players but most of all accept when they lose but give it 100 percent.
I want to say Thank You to Coach Andy and Coach Bob from my daughter, my wife, and myself for a season of excellence. Thank You for your even handed treatment of all the players. Thank You for the life lessons learned. Thank You for the long list of young women you have coached who have become strong role models from college grads on down.
This is the essence of Coaching as well as Teaching, alot of good teaching and coaching is happening in our communities without the accolades that some aspire. Just depends what you call an accomplishment.
