Interesting that the HSSR suddenly decided that York County was "within their coverage area" for boys soccer.

Again.....why not for girls soccer?

Feeling left out?
When players start voting for players..I'll pay alittle more attention to post season awards..Who better to decide?

The problem with that is.....

A player from Clover has no idea how good a player from James Island is, unless they've played with or against eachother in club soccer.

Then, you'll have a HS All-State team based on club reputation.

Well the list would be narrowed down if all state was listed after all regions..How can someone be selected for all state and not already been selected for all region?
Does not make any sense to me..We have already established that a coach has to be in attendence to make all state for the most part..This is not fair to the J.I. player either..
Let coaches select all regions and let schools have three votes for all state and you can choose anyone on the regions lists that is not at your school and let your captains choose..Let the players decide..They players know who the players are whether they played against them or not..It's less biased than than having three or four players from one team on all state..Look at the all state team now..It's not based on club reputation? My idea might have some flaws to it but we have to agree that the current system could stand some tweeking itself..

I like your idea.

I also agree that the All-State team should not be selected until after all of the All-Region teams have been named.

The All-Region players should be the pool from which the All-State team is named. No need to worry about whether all the worthy candidates have been nominated. If you are All-Region, you are then considered for All-State.

If your coach doesn't not nominate you for All-Region (for whatever reason), then you can't make All-State.

And all that has to be done is to count the votes and verify that no one voted for themselves..No Sunday morning meeting for a selected few to hash over which of their players gets the award..Sounds closer to fair than what we have now..Players should decide who is the best..It adds meaning to the award..

Players voting? What a joke! The coaches have the best knowledge and the better coaches are prepared for the meeting.

Unfortunately for the Summerville area that has not been the case in recent years except for the fact that the long time coach there has always advocated one or two players from his team - and no one else from that area. That gets old when you don't beat the likes of Wando or West Ashley each year when, knowingly, they have the best players.

Here's a novel idea, let the club players, coaches, fans, etc., vote on an all-club team each year. Bet it wouldn't be much different in the long run, unless kids from non-SC schools are included. Also, who cares? It won't get any notoriety from the couple of fans traversing the state on a weekend-in and weekend-out basis!

Players voting doesn't work.

Let the coaches vote from the pool of All-Region players.

When I say let the players vote..I don't think that's going to happen without the coaches imput..I thought that would be implied..sorry.Don't let my location dictate your line of thinking..That happens at most schools..but I'm willing to let the coaches vote if it will change the current system..
